An increase of 19.6% on last month has seen Menorca's unemployment figure top the 7,000 mark (as had been predicted earlier in the year) and now stand at 7,132, compared to 5,680 in November 2008, and 3% higher than twelve months ago.
Although there was a slight upturn in certain sectors (agriculture, industry and construction) it was not sufficient to counteract the sharp increase in unemployment in the services sector.
In the Balearic Islands overall there are now 92,049 people out of work and in Spain the figure stands at 4,110,294.
