Provisional water supply from Coves Noves for Addaia

|

A temporary solution has been found for the constant problems with the drinking water supply in Addaia. Es Mercadal Council is to install a provisional pipe, roughly 1.5 kilometres in length, running from the wells in Coves Noves to Addaia to supply the urbanisation this summer.

Currently, the drinking water is bought from privately-owned wells on the Ses Fontanillas estate, just outside the urbanisation's boundary. However, the amount of water drawn from the wells is not sufficient to meet the needs of the 3,000 tourists and residents in Addaia at the height of the season. Additionally, the landowner does not wish to sell his wells nor to hand over their management.

The neighbouring village of Na Macaret has similar problems with its water supply and Es Mercadal Council has asked for permission to drill new wells nearby which would then be able to supply drinking water to the various centres of population in the area.
